Instagram today announced that its Edits video editing app is now available for the Mac. Edits for Mac allows users to work on larger projects that benefit from a big screen and the control of a mouse and keyboard.
In just over a year, 50 million people have made Edits part of how they bring ideas to life, and we’re excited to expand what Edits can do for creators. Today we’re bringing Edits to the big screen. The first version of our desktop editor is now available for macOS. We’ve designed it to support more involved projects, where a larger screen and the precision of a mouse and keyboard really matter. Just like Edits on mobile, we’ll be updating our desktop app every week, so let us know what you think and what you’d like to see next.
The app includes Instagram’s licensed and royalty-free audio libraries, sound and video effects, and unlimited automatic captions.
The new Mac app offers a full multi-track timeline, keyframes for dynamic transitions, and precise audio waveforms for accurate cuts. Users can import LUTs or font files, and their is support for Model Context Protocol, allowing AI agents to use the app.
Users can publish videos created with the app directly to Instagram or they can download videos to share on other platforms. Multiple horizontal and vertical aspect ratios are included, and Edits offers 4K watermark-free export.
Edits for Mac is available for download from the Instagram website.
