Apple Donating to Hurricane Melissa Relief Efforts

Apple CEO Tim Cook said today that Apple will be making a donation towards Hurricane Melissa relief efforts on the ground. Cook did not specify the amount Apple will donate.

“Our hearts go out to all of those impacted by the destruction of Hurricane Melissa,” said Cook. “Apple will be making a donation to help with relief efforts on the ground.”

As reported by the Associated Press, Hurricane Melissa left dozens dead and caused widespread destruction across Cuba, Jamaica and Haiti. The storm has knocked out power and forced residents from their homes. It passed through the Bahamas as a weakened storm.

The hurricane initially made landfall in Jamaica as a Category 5 storm, making it one of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes on record.

Apple has donated to the Red Cross for several hurricane and other natural disaster relief efforts in the past.
