Apple’s Sainte-Catherine Store Has an All-New Home in Downtown Montréal

Apple’s Sainte-Catherine Store Has an All-New Home in Downtown Montréal

Apple’s Sainte-Catherine store in Montréal, Canada officially opened its new home to the public today. The new store is located on the northeast corner of Rue Saint-Catherine and Rue de la Montagne.  The first customers that visited the new location received a complimentary tote bag and a toque (that’s a beanie, for those of us who live south of the border).

The store takes up the entire first floor of a historic building that was extensively renovated for Apple. The second and third floors will be used by Apple employees.

“For nearly 20 years, we’ve been proud to be part of the downtown Montreal community, whose spirit of creativity and innovation continues to inspire us,” said Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s senior vice president of Retail and People, who attended the store’s grand opening. “We’re incredibly excited to build on this long-standing relationship and create a destination where our customers can experience the very best of Apple, from our innovative products to the expert care and support of our amazing team.”

The new store is more than twice the size of its previous location, which is now permanently closed. As Apple has done in in all of its recent new stores and remodels, side-by-side counters for the Genius Bar and Apple Pickup are available, allowing customers to receive technical support and collect items they ordered through Apple’s online store.

Unique design elements include the store’s entrance and a curved wood ceiling. The store’s façade blends historic Saint-Marc stone from Québec with local granite, and local copper artisans restored the cornice that tops the building.

To celebrate the new store, Apple has shared a custom Mac and iPhone wallpaper on its website.

Customers who make a purchase at the new store this Saturday, January 17, between 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. local time will receive a complimentary Apple Store shopping bag sporting an illustration by Montréal-based artist Catherine Potvin.

Apple has operated in Canada for more than 40 years and currently has 28 retail stores across the country, including five in Quebec. Customers are encouraged to take a creative journey across Quebec by exploring film, TV, music, books, podcasts, and apps created locally; listen to a curated Apple Music Sainte-Catherine playlist; and sign up for Today at Apple sessions.
