Apple CEO Tim Cook Tells Employees to ‘Stay Tuned’ for 50th Anniversary Celebration Plans

Apple CEO Tim Cook Tells Employees to ‘Stay Tuned’ for 50th Anniversary Celebration Plans

Apple CEO Tim Cook recently addresses an “all-hands meeting” of Apple employees, where he told them to “stay tuned” for details about the company’s plans for its upcoming 50th anniversary. Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne founded Apple on April 1, 1976, meaning the company will turn 50-years-old on April 1, 2026.

Cook’s full remarks were shared by Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman:

I’ve been unusually reflective lately about Apple because we have been working on what do we do to mark this moment — 50 years. It’s an extraordinary accomplishment. We’ve been going back through old archives, old photographs. We’ve been going back through the products, the services, the people, and I am struck by how much Apple has changed things, how much Apple has changed the world, how much Apple has given to the world. Are we going to celebrate it? You better believe it. We’re not ready to say exactly how yet, so stay tuned. Yes. We’re not a culture that looks back. So the group of people working on this have had to kind of build a different muscle for this, as our muscle is always about what’s next. We’ve really had to work hard on this to get in a reflective state, but when you really stop and pause and think about the last 50 years, it makes your heart sing. It really does. I promise some celebration.

While Cook was likely referring to Apple’s plans for an employee celebration, we will almost assuredly the company honor the occasion publicly also.

As mentioned above, Apple was founded on April 1, 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne. Wayne soon after left the partnership, and the company was incorporated by Jobs and Wozniak as Apple Computer, Inc. the following year.

Apple has went through several highs and lows over the last five decades. The company went from being an early pioneer in the 8-bit computer industry, to near-bankruptcy in the late 90s, to becoming the world’s most valuable public firm in the early 2010s.

Whatever Apple does to celebrate its 50th birthday, we’ll report all the action right here, so stay tuned, party people.
