Apple in May proposed a $250 million payout to settle a U.S. class action lawsuit over Siri AI’s delayed launch, with eligible iPhone users receiving up to a $95 each.
Apple’s settlement proposition has now received preliminary approval from a judge, according to a July 17 court document. However, don’t start looking for the settlement website just yet, and as may take months before eligible customers can begin submitting claims.
Why Was The Lawsuit About?
In June 2024, Apple previewed new Siri capabilities powered by Apple Intelligence, at WWDC 24. Apple showed off how Siri would understand a user’s personal context, demonstrated its on-screen awareness, and deeper per-app controls.
Apple also advertised those Siri features in multiple locations, including product presentations, its website, and in a TV commercial starring actor Bella Ramsey.
The new and improved Siri did not make an appearance that year, and then in March 2025, Apple announced it would be delaying the launch of more personalized Siri, leading to a class action lawsuit that alleged Apple was guilty of false advertising.
While Apple listed the other APple Intelligence features that were available, it finally agreed to settle the lawsuit “to stay focused” on “delivering the most innovative products and services to our users.”
Apple finally unveiled :Siri AI” at this year’s WWDC event in June, and the new assistant is now being tested in the iOS 27 and macOS 27 betas. iOS 27 will likely be released in September, which should make Siri AI available to all users with an iPhone 15 Pro or newer handset.
Who Is Eligible?
To be eligible to submit a claim, you must reside in the U.S. and have purchased any iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 16 model between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025.

You will likely have to provide proof of purchase or other information, such as the device’s serial number. Exact requirements will be listed on the settlement website when it goes live.
How Much Will Apple Pay Each Person?
Each person who files an eligible claim will receive a per-device payment of $25, although the amount could be as high as $95 if the total number of claims submitted is lower than anticipated. (Yeah, don’t count on that.)
Where and When Can I Submit a Claim?
A settlement website is expected to go live with an online claims form sometime in the near future. and eligible class members will be notified by email within approximately 45 days after the settlement received preliminary approval. If you are not notified, but are a U.S. resident who purchased one of the above iPhone models within the above dates, you are still eligible if you meet the criteria.
