Apple’s next entry-level iPad looks like it will boast a faster processor and sufficient enough specs to run Apple Intelligence. The 12th-generation iPad could also benefit from faster cellular and wireless connectivity.
Details found in Apple’s code, first spotted by MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris, show the new iPad will be powered by an A19 chip and will have 8GB of RAM. The A19 supports Apple Intelligence, while 8GB is the minimum memory requirement for Apple Intelligence.
The code also contains information about a C1X modem, which supports sub-6GHz 5G. An N1 networking chip would enable Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread.
So far, we haven’t seen any official word on when a new entry-level iPad might hit store shelves, although current rumors indicate a spring 2027 release date with the same base price as the current model, $449.
