Macbook Pro Benchmark Shows Significant Gains Across The Board

The new range of Macbook Pros may look the same as their 2010 counterparts but the 2011 MBP’s pack a serious punch courtesy of the Sandy Bridge processor updates!

The 17″ Macbook Pro with an Intel Quad-Core i7 2.3GHz processor gets a massive 10,164 Geekbench score. That is nearly double the power of the 2010 17″ Intel Core i7 Dual Core score of 5,837.

Geekbench provide benchmarks based on processor and memory performance. The higher the score, the better.

A blog post from Primate Labs puts the above chart into context with a quick comparison of how the new range of Macbook Pros stacks up with the previous generation…

The performance of the new MacBook Pros is amazing. The slowest MacBook Pro performs on par with the fastest previous-generation MacBook Pro, and the fastest MacBook Pro is 80% faster than the fastest previous-generation MacBook Pro.

The fastest MacBook Pro is faster than a lot of Mac Pros (including the current generation of Mac Pros). The new MacBook Pros truly are portable workstations.
