iPad 2

If you were misfortunate enough to purchase an iPad 1 in the last couple of weeks, Apple will provide you with a partial refund to cushion the blow of missing out on the iPad 2. You will be entitled to a refund of $100, €100, or £100 as long as you still have your receipt and you if you made the purchase on or after the 16th of February.

We’re not sure about the refund process, but I presume returning to your point of purchase with a receipt will suffice.

Perhaps I'm just crazy here … but isn't there a 30 day return policy? Wouldn't a return yield a full refund?

Actually it is 14 days. In the past they have often made an exception and allowed 14 days after an announcement if you bought it within 14 days before.

What MT is talking about is a price adjustment if you want to keep your gen 1 ipad.

from the US retail store policies page on apple.com
Should Apple permanently reduce its price on any Apple-branded product within fourteen (14) calendar days of the date of purchase, you may request a refund of the difference between the price paid and the current selling price. An original purchase receipt is required, and you must request your refund within fourteen (14) calendar days of the price reduction. Please note that this policy does not apply to temporary price drops or special offers, such as price reductions that occur during holiday sales events (e.g., “Black Friday”)."

The other English language pages have the same language as I'm sure the non English do (but I can't read)

  • Oh I wish I had known that I was new to Apple when I purchased the first Ipad, and a couple of weeks later the Ipad2 came out. Oh well I have both and we use them so it all worked out fine, DH loves the Ipad 1 because he does not care about camera’s and whatever else they added to the Ipad2!
