Report: iPhone 5 Launching In 2nd Week Of September

A new report from The China Times indicates that the iPhone 5 will be released on the 2nd week of September, and also claims that Apple has ordered 4 million initial units for the launch!

Furthermore, the report suggests that Apple’s suppliers are already working on producing 400,000 “trial run” units to be used as the final proof and testing step for the next-gen iPhone.

This lines up nicely with current release expectations for the iPhone 5 – Apple has a 3-year tradition of holding an iPod-related event in September, which would be an excellent time to unveil the new units (which will be running iOS 5) and show them off.

Although there is no solid consensus regarding the design, hardware, or features of the iPhone 5, it’s probably safe to expect the new unit to be running Apple’s new A5 processor, a better camera, and generally receive a significant boost in specs.
