Silicon iPhone 5 Cases Appear At AT&T Retail Stores

Despite the fact that many are beginning to doubt that Apple will release a redesigned iPhone 5 due to a lack of evidence (such as the supposed part leaks that have been surfacing for iPhone 4S), cases for the iPhone 5 seem to be cropping up in retail databases left and right.

Yesterday it appeared that a number of Case-Mate iPhone 5 cases appeared in AT&T’s retail inventory system, and new reports suggest that silicon cases designed to hold a new redesigned iPhone 5 have already been appearing at AT&T retail stores in the U.S.

The above picture was provided to MacRumors by a supposed AT&T retail employee. The cases seem to agree with a rumor back in April suggesting the iPhone 5 would be thinner, lighter, and have a slightly tapered teardrop-style design.

This report follows a recent claim that the iPhone 4S has already appeared in Apple’s inventory system, suggesting that Apple may release two iPhone models at their October 4th media event after all.

  1. Apple isn’t going to release two new iPhones. They are going to release one new iPhone and upgrade the existing one 🙂 That also explains the ”1” on the invitation. Well at least that’s if you ask me!

  2. This disappoints me so much. If these cases are legitimate (and the Case-mate photos), then it looks as though the new iPhone has those stupid volume controls are a curved side just like the iPod Touch. I hate those volume buttons. It’s so hard to adjust with one hand. It’s like Apple combined the designs of the iPod Touch and iPad 2.
