Former Apple Store Manager Promoted To Head Of Retail

Following the departure of former Apple retail chief Ron Johnson, CultofMac reports that Apple has selected a new retail chief, Steve Cano, a former Apple Store manager, and one of the first employees ever hired for Apple’s retail program.

Cano and Johnson are well acquainted with one another, and the above image from ifoAppleStore shows the two standing together at the 2004 grand opening of the Shinsaibashi Apple Store in Osaka, Japan. Apple still has not made any official announcement regarding the transition.

If true, Cano’s rise from floor-level sales employees to Apple VP of Retail would be a pretty amazing story. If the report is true, an announcement from Apple on the matter should be released in the near future.
