The moment many of you have been waiting for has finally arrived. As hinted yesterday, the untethered iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak (called Absinthe 2.0) has finally arrived! The jailbreak works on almost all iOS devices, including the new iPad and the iPhone 4S!

The Chronic Dev Team made the announcement this morning:

After copious amounts of work and many sleepless nights Absinthe 2.0 is finally here to jailbreak your device. This release has been a large collaborative effort between Chronic-Dev Team and iPhone Dev Teams (Jailbreak Dream Team).

Even better, since it is an untethered jailbreak, you will be able to use your jailbroken device normally without the need to tether it to your computer each time you need to restart!

The jailbreak is a team effort with contributions from pod2gp0sixninjaplanetbeingpimskeks, iOPK, and others. Head on over to the official website and download Absinthe 2.0 for yourself! We’ll have a tutorial on how to apply the jailbreak available shortly.
