A new survey of U.S. mobile subscribers has been released, and it shows that Apple’s iPhone continues to grab a bigger share of the market, up 1.4 percentage points to 18.5%.
Apple’s growth in the three-month span ending in November gave it the largest point change of all handset makers. Apple’s growth was enough to put it ahead of LG, which fell from 18.2 percent of the mobile market in August to 17.5 percent in November, good for third place.
Chief rival and frenemy Samsung held the top spot, as it saw its share of the market rise 1.2 percentage points. That put its market share at 26.9%. The numbers include owners of feature phones as well as smartphones.
Google subsidiary Motorola took fourth in the survey, grabbing 10.4% of the users. Those numbers were down 0.8 percentage points.
To round out the top five, HTC came in with a 5.9% share, down 0.4 percentage points.
When referring to smartphone platforms, Android and Apple continued their domination of the market. Android accounted for 53.7% of all smartphones, while iOS grabbed 35%.
RIM, Microsoft and Nokia’s Symbian all saw their market share drop in November. Together, RIM and Microsoft make up just over 10% of the U.S. smartphone market, while Symbian hangs on with just a half-percent.
