‘Bang With Friends’ Developer Sued by Zynga Over Name

Bang With Friends, the Facebook app that lets you anonymously select which one of your Facebook friends you’d want to do the horizontal mambo with, and then notifies you if they have a similar desire, is being sued by game maker Zynga. It seems the gaming firm isn’t too happy about the “With Friends” part of the app’s name, as Zynga uses it in such popular games as “Words With Friends,” and Running With Friends.”

Macgasm:

Zynga has sued the app’s developers “Bang With Friends Inc.”, stating that the company “selected the name ‘Bang With Friends’ for its casual sex matchmaking app with Zynga’s game trademarks fully in mind.” In other words, Zynga thinks that the company simply stole the “with friends” name to try and ride the fame that Zynga had created for it.

“We heard through media reports that Zynga has filed a trademark infringement claim with respect to the ‘with friends’ part of our name,” Bang With Friends told the BBC. “As a technology company, we take intellectual property seriously, and will evaluate the case in detail once we receive a copy.”

Time will only tell whether a judge will see things Zynga’s way, but you have to admit, “Bang With Friends” would make a helluva turn-based strategy game.
