By using your smartphone, and $10 worth of supplies from any hardware store, you can build a microscope capable of reaching up to 175X magnification.

I F***ing Love Science says all you need to create this setup is a piece of plywood, some Plexiglass, the lens from a laser pointer, small LED light, and some nuts and bolts to hold it together.

Using this setup, images and videos can easily be captured of just about anything you need to examine.
