How To: Enable TRIM On Any SSD In Snow Leopard

The developer preview of OS X Lion brought many exciting things, among them the long-awaited TRIM support for SSD’s. Now, enterprising hackers have found a way to enable the support on any Mac running OS X 10.6.7.

Before we delve into any details, we’d just like to disclaim a bit here: This is a hack, experimental, and not supported by Apple in any way. Use at your own risk. We accept no liability for what you do with this information.

Oskar Groth, also known as Cindori, has built a script and a GUI that will allow you to enable TRIM on and SSD in 10.6.7. The utility he has released is called TRIM enabler, is simple to use, and has been shown to be successful.

You can download it here, but remember: use at your own risk.
