RockMelt – The Social Browser – Is Now Open For Download
Rock Melt

RockMelt is a socially focused web browser that is built on top of Chromium (Google Chrome Engine). Up until the last 24 hours, access to the web browser was via invite only. All that has changed.

RockMelt is now freely available to download for all!

RockMelt’s unique selling point is its integration with social networks such as Twitter and especially Facebook. Facebook Chat and Facebook status updates are built into the browser. You can pretty much do anything you would ordinarily do on Facebook through RockMelt. You can also access your Twitterfeed and post tweets directly from within RockMelt.

According to a TechCrunch article, RockMelt has just under 1 million active users with the average user keeping the browser open for 6 hours per day.

As a plus, because it is built on top of Chrome, all of Chrome’s extensions can be installed in RockMelt.

Check out the below promo video and let us know what you think of RockMelt in the comments.

  1. Chuck says:

I got in on it early. It has definitely improved. It's been my default browser for over 6 weeks at work and home. Open an running constantly. I like its social bearings.

  2. Jordon says:

I'd let you know if the developers would have been considerate enough to make it for Linux as well. Odd that it doesn't work seeing it's based off Chrome and Google made that for Linux…

Oh well, no need to revert to shitty Windows for a browser and I don't have a MacBook Pro… yet. 😉
