Mac OS X Lion Automatically Sets, Finds, And Repairs Folder Permissions

According to their recent report, AppleInsider may have found a really cool new feature in OS X Lion – the ability to automatically make system-wide changes to folder permissions and ownership. This could significantly enhance security on OS X.

According to their report, Apple informed developers that a number of folders in the System and Local domains would be changing their default permissions in Lion, including a number of system and Library folders moving from being writable by administrators to being writable ONLY by root. This increases security by making it impossible to make changes to these files without authenticating directly.
