Verizon iPhone 4 Biggest Gainer in February

comScore just released US mobile stats for February, and Apple made the biggest gains of any OEM. The launch of the iPhone 4 on Verizon, America’s largest provider, pushed Apple “up 0.9 percentage points to account for 7.5 percent of subscribers” making it “the most acquired handset in the month of February.”

Google’s Android platform overtook US market share with 33.0% at the expense of RIM’s 4.6 point slide to 28.9% while Apple is closing in on 2nd place with 25.2%. Google and Apple were the only gainers in smartphone market share while Palm and Microsoft joined RIM as the losers. This does not bode well for Windows Phone 7, the newest platform in the market.

James first bit into Apple when his mom and dad bought an Apple IIe in 1986. He switched to Wintel in the mid 90s when Apple was in a tailspin and back again to an iBook in 2005 when things were looking brighter. Hopefully there is no turning back to the dark side now.
