Mac App Store Updated, Adds In-App Purchases, Push Notification, Delta Updates

As part of the WWDC announcements today, it was revealed that the Mac App Store will getting some pretty swell enhancements, including sandboxing, push notifications, delta updates, and in-app purchasing.

The sandboxing will add a layer of security that will prevent apps from affecting much while in that state. In addition, delta updates are set to reduce the file size of software updates by only replacing the files that will need to be changed for the update to work, meaning the entire app won’t need to be re-downloaded.

Apps will also be able to send push notifications to users and just like iOS apps, can also have in-app purchases.
