Apple Becomes America’s Third Largest PC Maker, Will Ship 4 Million Macs In Q3

The latest analyst comments, which are in vast supply as analysts prepare for Apple’s third-quarter earnings call next Tuesday, are indicating that Apple’s retail business has grown 80% year-over-year, and that Apple is now the 3rd largest PC maker in America.

This follows Wednesday’s impressive news that Apple is now the fastest-growing retailer in America. 2011 is quickly becoming a huge milestone year for Apple as they continue to beat projections and set new records left and right.

Analysts surveyed by Fortune are expecting extremely strong Mac sales in the third quarter, ranging anywhere from 3.8 million Macs on the low end, to 4.63 million units on the high end (which would represent a 33% annual growth for the Mac).

Apple’s Mac sales continue to increase tremendously while global PC shipments have decreased up to 2.6 percent. This means that almost all PC vendors except Apple have been reporting negative year-over-year growth. I guess John Paczowski was absolutely right when he said that the Mac was kicking ass!
