Apple Is Working On Exciting New Features For iOS Maps, Location Services

Recent Apple job listings indicate that Apple is looking to hire additional engineers to work on location services for iOS. The latest job listing is for an iOS QA location engineer to work in Cupertino and bring “exciting new features” to location services in iOS.

The job listing continues to indicate that candidates must have experience working with “GPS, A-GPS, LBS, or navigation algorithms,” as well as cellular network technology and mobile sensors.

Considering Apple’s prior acquisition of Poly9 and Placebase, it’s likely that this new employee would be working on improving the standard “Maps” app in iOS, which hasn’t undergone a single major change since 2007.
