Following our previous report that Apple’s next-gen A6 processor has already entered test production, a new report from Taiwan Economic News reaffirms the news, and suggests that the A6 processor won’t end up in devices until April 2011 (Q2) at the earliest.
According to the report, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC), the company who will reportedly be making Apple’s next-gen processor, has already begin trials of the new chip, but that the new chip won’t be ready for mass production for some while.
The net-gen chip will reportedly be built with a 28-nanometer process and 3D stacking technologies. Compared to the 45-nanometer A5 chip, the A6 will reflect a smaller design and significantly reduced power consumption.
