Best Buy Giving Away Free Galaxy Tabs With HDTV Purchases

It appears that Best Buy is planning to kick off an agressive promo this weekend, offering a free Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with the purchase of certain HDTV models, potentially indicating that Samsung’s iPad competitor is doing poorly and is in need of a boost.

This news is particularly interesting in light of yesterday’s news that HP has discontinued their TouchPad (and all of their WebOS devices), as well as spinning off their entire PC division.

The offer is said to begin on August 21 and run through August 27th. The free Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be a 16GB WiFi model, which normally retail for $499, and requires the purchase of any 46-inch or 55-inch LED-lit 3D HDTV with $1500 or $2000.

While this deal isn’t quite as desperate as HP permanently reducing the TouchPad’s price by $100, but still may signify troubles ahead for Samsung and their Android-powered Galaxy Tab 10.1.
