OS X Lion & New MacBook Airs Drive July Mac Sales Up 26%

Last month was a pretty amazing month for Apple with the release of OS X Lion, new MacBook Airs and Mac Minis. The latest figures from Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster claim that Mac sales were up 26% for July as a result.

In addition, Apple is now expected to sell a record 4.5 million Macs during the September quarter. Year-over-year sales of Macs rose 26% for July, placing Apple well on target to meet their goal.

While Munster attributes the rise to Lion and new Mac releases, he also cautions that it will be a challenge for Apple to maintain that kind of growth throughout this quarter.
