New Joypad SDK Finally Brings iOS Gaming To Apple TV

Some of you may already be familiar with an app called Joypad that lets you use your iOS device as a wireless bluetooth gamepad for the Mac, PC or iPad. The developers of Joypad have now released a new SDK which allows users of Apple devices to finally play iOS games on the Apple TV!

The solution requires that you own an iPhone, iPad, and an Apple TV, but it seems to work well, and it can be built into any existing game on the App Store. The solution relies on your iPad to stream the game to the AppleTV, while the iPhone becomes the handheld game pad.

As long as developers decide to support and implement this API, your Apple TV may be about to become a lot more fun, allowing you to play high-quality console-style iOS games wirelessly from your sofa on your HDTV! Developer support is currently very limited. Joypad can be downloaded for free from the iTunes App Store (Free, App Store Link). Check out the below video to see it in action:
