Apple Launches AppleCare+ Accident Protection Program for iPhone

Alongside all of Apple’s other exciting announcements today, like the amazing new iPhone 4S, Apple has also quietly replaced AppleCare for the iPhone with a new service called AppleCare+, which includes accident protection.

The price of coverage has increased from $69 to $99 to cover the new accident protection features, and continues to cover hardware defects and hardware repair coverage. As with the previous AppleCare packages, AppleCare + extends your iPhone’s warranty from a one year warrantee with 90 days of phone support to a 2-year full-coverage warranty, and adds up to 2 incidents of accidental damage. All accident claims are subject to a $49 service fee.

As of today, Apple’s original AppleCare for iPhone plans are now no longer available.
