Apple Still Working On Enabling Merging For Multiple Apple IDs

About one month ago, we reported that Apple was aware of issues relating to users having multiple Apple IDs and was working on a solution. While doubt was later cast on this, a new report from wort.lu suggests that Apple is still working on the problem.

The issue relates to many people having multiple Apple IDs, especially MobileMe users, and finding that they cannot easily manage both ID’s, resulting in their iCloud experience being split in two.

One affected user, Henrique Xavier, reached out to Tim Cook for some answers, pointing out that many people now have two Apple IDs – one from prior to the iCloud launch, and one after:

Now, people have a library that has been split in half and we can’t take advantage of the new features of iOS 5” he stated.

Tim Cook reportedly called Xavier at his personal number in Luxembourg from Apple HQ, and offered a positive response, “Thank you very much for your email, and I just want you to know we are aware of this issue and are working on it”.
