Samsung Attempts To Block iPhone 4S Sales In Australia & Japan

Just days after Apple’s very successful launch of the iPhone 4S, The Wall Street Journal reports that Samsung has filed an injunction asking the courts to ban sales of the iPhone 4S in both Japan and Australia, as well as banning the iPhone 4 and the iPad 2 in Japan.

Samsung spokesman James Chung issued the following statement:

We are actively responding in (the legal battle) with Apple.

Meanwhile, Apple views things differently. Apple Korea spokesman Steve Parks had the following to say in regards to claims that Samsung is copying Apple’s designs:

This kind of blatant copying is wrong, and we need to protect Apple’s intellectual property when companies steal our ideas.

So far the courts have been on Apple side, with Apple’s most recent victory resulting in an injunction banning sales of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab in Australia, as well as a similar prior victory banning Samsung’s Galaxy series of smartphones in the European Union.
