Apple Targets Mobile Porn Sites in Domain Name Dispute

A number of mobile porn sites are at risk of losing their domain names in a dispute filed by Apple, reports AppleInsider. Domains such as iPhone4S.com, iPhoneCamForce, and iPhoneCam4S (none of which we’ll be linking to) are the target of the dispute due to their use of Apple marketing terms in their domain names.

The company has filed a formal complaint with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) targeting seven separate mobile porn sites, with the goal of gaining control over the domain names shutting down the related websites. All of the sites being targeted use the term “iPhone” within their domain names.

It’s currently unknown who the owner(s) of the domains might be, as each of the domains uses privacy settings that prevents the actual site owners from being revealed through a Whois information search.
