iOS 5.0.1 Fails to Fix Battery Life Issues for Many Users

Following yesterday’s release of the iOS 5.0.1 update, which was intended to address battery life issues, among other things, many users are reporting that the problem still exists after applying the update, and in some cases the problem has even worsened.

Despite testing the update with developers and even end users, it appears that the root of the issue has yet to be addressed. The Apple support forums are riddled with reports that the update hasn’t helped, and some reports claim the problem is even worse, as can be seen in this discussion thread.

While the reports are not yet officially confirmed, the fact that so many people are posting complaints about the update suggests that significant issues are still present in the update. Personally, I’ve found battery life on my iPhone 4S to be significantly improved, but as you can see, result may vary.

Update: Apple has acknowledge there still may be issues, and has given a statement to AllThingsD saying they’re still investigating the issue.
