Leaked Photos Show Brazilian-Made iPhone 4 with Custom Model Number

Photos have emerged on Brazilian site MacMagazine of an iPhone 4 with a localised Brazilian model number. The 8GB iPhone 4 is not expected to go on sale in the country until the iPhone 4S arrives, so this is quite a serious leak.

The phone has the words “Industria Brasileira”, or “Brazilian Industry” at the back, and also features a stamp of approval from ANATEL, the country’s telecommunications agency. It reportedly came with iOS 5 installed. The model number also ends with “BR”, an indicator that the device was manufactured in Brazil.

Apple’s manufacturing partner Foxconn are said to be considering an investment of approximately $12 billion into production facilities in Brazil, but talks have stalled between with the government due to tax rates, unprepared infrastructure and a lack of qualified workers.
