Newly Discovered iOS 5 Bug Could Lead To Untethered Jailbreak

Jailbreak users who have upgraded to iOS 5 now have something new to get excited about, as Chronic Dev Team member @pod2G has discovered a bug in iOS 5 that may soon bring an untethered iOS 5 jailbreak.

@pod2g made the announcement through Twitter, and although he says the exploit won’t come quickly, he’s working hard to make the untethered iOS 5 jailbreak available as soon as possible.

There are already ways to jailbreak iOS 5, but every solution up to this point has been tethered, requiring you to hook your iPhone to your Mac or PC and re-jailbreak the device each time it is rebooted.

Few details are available about the upcoming jailbreak, and it’s still very unclear whether it will cover devices with A5 processors, such as the iPhone 4S and iPad 2. Nevertheless, the jailbreak is coming, and we’ll let you know as soon as we hear of its release.
