Next-Gen Ivy Bridge MacBook Airs to Support Three Simultaneous Displays

Based on a leaked Intel roadmap detailing Intel’s Ivy Bridge release plans, MacRumors reports that Intel’s next-gen processors, and therefore the next MacBook Air, will support up to three simultaneous displays (one of which is built-in), in comparison to the single external display supported by current Thunderbolt MacBook Airs.

Even the 13″ MacBook Pro can only support two simultaneous displays – to use two external displays the built-in display must be disabled.

The change is due to a significantly updated Thunderbolt chipset, as well as improved integrated graphics, and should come as very welcome news to anyone who uses their MacBook Air as a desktop when they’re not out and about.
