Supposed iPad 3 Retina Display Picture Surfaces on Korean Forum

A new image claimed to be an iPad 3 Retina display has appeared on a Korean forum. The leaked display is quite similar to the display in the current iPad 2. Unfortunately, very little information is available.

MacRumors points out the similarities between this display and that of the iPad 2 in the above image:

We believe the top image represents the current iPad 2 screen, while the bottom image is the supposed iPad 3 display. Both are 9.7″ in diagonal, but the bottom screen has a different configuration for the attached cabling.

Meanwhile, iFixit provides the below photo, showing what an iPad 2 display looks like when its completely disassembled.  While this supposed iPad 3 display has an additional data cable beyond the iPad 2 display, this could be explained in that a high-resolution Retina display, as the iPad 3 is rumored to include, simply requires more data to pass images through.

An increasing number of part leaks have been occurring as the anticipated early 2012 launch date for the iPad 3 draws nearer, suggesting that the device is nearing production.

The iPad 3 is rumored to include a high-resolution Retina display, more RAM, a faster “A6” processor, and a possible thinner and lighter form factor, and is widely expected to be released sometime early next year.
