TeleNav Announces Free HTML5 Turn-By-Turn Navigation Service

TeleNav, a large provider of turn-by-turn GPS solutions for mobile platforms, has announced that they will soon launch a new free voice-guided turn-by-turn GPS navigation service for use in mobile apps and websites. The platform will also include full-color moving maps and automatic route remapping.

The new service is based on HTML5, and will work on nearly any mobile platform or device, including iOS 5 and the iPhone 4S, and can easily be built into apps or websites with a single line of code using the TeleNav API.

By providing free voice-guided turn-by-turn directions to any mobile app or website, TeleNav may effectively elininate the need for tools like Google Maps, which is currently built into iOS devices.

The service will be launching early next year, and will be free to all users regardless of whether they have a TeleNav subscription. Developers can begin testing the service today. You can check out the full press release over at TeleNav.
