9 out of 10 iPhone Buyers Choose the iPhone 4S

Apple revealed some pretty impressive financial results earlier this week, noting that 37 million iPhones were sold over the holiday quarter. And interestingly, according to Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (via AllThingsD), 89 percent were the iPhone 4S.

Among the 89% who chose the iPhone 4S, most chose the 16Gb model (45%), while the 32GB and 64GB model were slightly less popular at 34% and 21%, respectively.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 4 accounted for 7% of iPhone sales, with the 3GS accounting for only 4%, despite it’s new availability as a free phone with a 2-year contract.

Some pretty interesting numbers, to be sure – and extremely impressive that nearly 90% are buying the iPhone 4S, when Apple just chopped the prices of their two previous models.
