Apple Recycling Program Extended to UK, France and Germany

Following the success of Apple’s recycling program in the US, it has now been extended to three additional countries: the UK, France and Germany, 9to5Mac reports. Unlike in the US, Apple will not offer payment using Apple Gift Cards. Instead, the payment will be made directly into the user’s account. This means that the user can spend the money on whatever they want, giving them more felxibility.

“Whether it’s an iPhone, iPad, Mac or PC computer, working or not, we’ll take it and determine if it qualifies for reuse and has a monetary value. If it does, the amount will be credited directly into your bank account. If it doesn’t, you can recycle it responsibly through one of our free recycling programs”, Apple said. The program is made possible by Apple’s partnership with Dataserv.

Apple encourage a range of recycling programs in a variety of different countries through many different oraganizations, a full list of which can be found here. This new announcement confirms Apple’s green intentions and shows their dedication to creating a more envrionmentally friendly company, which is an area where they have been lacking in the past.
