How To: Changing The Layout Of Your Apps

Today, we will take a look at the ways you can change the layout of your apps.

The first and most convenient option is to tap and hold any app icon down and upon them jiggling select an app to move and move it to where you feel it best suits. You can also do this in iTunes. As you will see by the below image this is one of the icons I have moved and you will notice as you move one app all the others will reassign their new positions.

You can also move apps to the dock at the bottom of the screen. You do have a limit of six in total on the dock when using the iPad. For the iPhone and iPod Touch you can have four apps displayed in the dock at any given time.

You can move your apps to a second home screen by simply dragging them to the right hand edge of the screen and the second home page will appear allowing you to place the app in question on that page. If you are transferring from a second page for example back to the first then all you need to do drag the icon to the left of the screen. An example of moving an app to the right of the screen to put on a new page can be seen below:

The below example shows the reverse effect of moving an app to a previous home page:

You can of course keep going making new pages as you progress. You can create up to 11 home screens in total.

Once you have finished moving around your apps and you are happy with the layout you can simply press the home button on your device which will stop the icon jiggling and set any changes in place.
