Seagate GoFlex Thunderbolt Adapter Now Available for Purchase

The Seagate GoFlex Thunderbolt adapter, one of many exciting new Thunderbolt products unveiled at CES 2012, is now available for sale. The drive is designed to connect to Seagate’s GoFlex series of portable drives, although it can also be used as a dock for any 2.5″ SATA-enabled drive.

Lightning quick transfers of large files. Connect to your GoFlex portable drive and Thunderbolt cable for interface speeds up to 20x faster than USB 2.0.

  • Completely portable, powered through the Thunderbolt cable
  • Transfer speeds up to 10Gb/s
  • Works with any portable GoFlex drive

Seagate’s GoFlex line of drives features interchangeable adapters, allowing users to choose which interface they’d like to use with the drive. The GoFlex Thunderbolt is the first adapter to bring Thunderbolt connectivity to standard hard drives.

The GoFlex Thunderbolt adapter features only a single Thunderbolt port, so you won’t be able to daisy chain with it, and does not include a Thunderbolt cable, which cost $50 from the Apple Online Store. The adapter is available now for $99 direct from Seagate.
