Apple Updates Siri With Deeper Yelp Integration

In addition to Japanese language support for Siri, iOS 5.1 also added deeper Yelp integration to Apple’s personal digital assistant. When searching for business or restaurant recommendations, Siri will now launch the Yelp profile page for the business in question.

From the Yelp Blog (via 9to5Mac):

…when asking Siri for a great date restaurant in Cleveland or a dry cleaner in Portland, more often than not she’d show you relevant Yelp-rated businesses near you, but when you tapped the listing, it wouldn’t take you straight to Yelp.

Well, last week, Apple launched iOS 5.1 and with it, an updated Siri and Yelp integration on iPhone. Now when searching for a recommendation on local businesses, Siri will return Yelp-reviewed businesses and when you tap the star rating (BOOM!) you are immediately taken to the Yelp business profile page

Yelp profiles provide a great deal of information, including user reviews for the business, hours of operation, photos, an address and phone number and more. In my book, this tighter Yelp integration makes Siri an even better tool, as it can now help you find and become informed on business around you much, much better.

You can see the new integration in action in the above video.
