8-Year-Old Uses Find My iPad to Lead Police to $350,000 in Stolen Goods

8-Year-Old Uses Find My iPad to Lead Police to $350,000 in Stolen Goods

Apple’s Find my iPad service has lead to a number of arrests, and consumers and police alike are quickly learning to use the tool to track down criminals. The latest Find my iPad story has really caught my attention, however .

According to MSNBC (via 9to5Mac), 8-year-old Landon Crabtree used the service to help police recover his family’s stolen iPad. Even though the family’s insurance covered the cost of the stolen iPad, Landon wasn’t satisfied, and was able to lead police to the thief – and help recover $350,000 in stolen goods in the process!

Police discovered the massive stash of stolen property in a hotel room that the thief was using to stash the goods. Landon was awarded the key to the city for his assistance to the police – after all, it’s not every day that an 8-year-old takes such strong initiative!
