Build Your Own External MacBook Battery For Under $60

Want an external battery for your MacBook, but don’t want to spend a lot of money? The Verge author Evan Rodgers has hacked together a solution you can build for less than $60, made from a CCTV battery, a MacBook car charger, and some technical muster!

External batteries can be extremely useful while traveling, but commercially available batteries cost at least $250 (from companies such as HyperMac). Why not save yourself $200 clams or so and make one of your very own?

Besides saving some money, you’ll also build up valuable geek cred and have something you can truly call your own. Check out the above video for a tutorial on how to put the project together. Detailed instructions are also available in Rodgers’ original post over at The Verge.
