How to: How To Use Caps Lock

In this tip we will take a look at how users can use Caps Lock in iOS as their is no dedicated virtual key for this functionality.

When typing text into any area of iOS simply tap the Shift key twice. You will need to do this rather quickly as doing it slowly will simply disable the shift key.

When caps lock is successfully activated the shift button will appear in a blue color and all entered text will now be in capitals as can be seen below:

To deactivate caps lock simply press the Shift key again once.

Should you wish to add numbers or additional characters by tapping the button underneath the Shift key then caps lock will be deactivated. This limitation makes it difficult for users who need to enter a combination of text, symbols, and numbers into the same area.

The alternative is to simply tap and hold the Shift key when entering letters.
