New LG Cloud Service To Launch May 1st

After Google Drive, it’s now the turn of LG to launch its cloud streaming service, The Verge reports. Called the very original LG Cloud it will launch on May 1st and allow users as per usual to upload all their data and then stream it to their many devices, but not iOS! After Google Drive, it’s now the turn of LG to launch its cloud streaming serviceFor some reason, at least for now, the app is exclusive to Android, something which will be downloadable from Google Play or LG Smart World.

The service will also offer full 3D support, so if you have a 3D camera, you can still view your photos in all their glory. It will be available free or paid, depending on how much storage you need, with more details being announced as the service rolls out.

LG rarely dip their toes in the software market, so this is a pretty rare occurrence. If they hope to compete with Apple’s iCloud, then good luck to them. Not having their service on offer for iOS (at least for now) leaves it almost dead in the water in terms of attracting Apple’s customer base, and with Google Drive being announced several days ago, Google will want to retain a firm grip on where Android users store their data. With so many options, the cloud market is a tough one to get into, and i wouldn’t be surprise if they drop this service within several years (if not less). It’s now up to them to prove me wrong.
