Apple Airs Two New Siri Ads Starring John Malkovich

It seems that the age of celebrity Apple ads is upon us. Following last month’s airing of Siri ads featuring Samuel L. Jackson and Zooey Deschanel, Apple has now begun airing two new iPhone 4S ads featuring actor John Malkovich, and how he makes use of Apple’s Personal Digital Assistant.

The first ad, Life, shows Malkovich waxing philosophical, asking Siri about life, and praising Siri for giving excellent advice – the same advice offered as “the meaning of life” in Douglas Adams’ Hitch-Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series of novels.

The second ad, Joke, features Malkovich asking about the whether, inquiring about his evening schedule, asking which restaurants serve a certain dish, and asking Siri to tell a joke, in which Siri replies “Two iPhones walk into a bar, I forget the rest.”

What do you think of these new celebrity ads? Has Apple lost their advertising creativity? Personally, I think these ads are a big step downhill from Apple’s typically very unique and creative spots. They do seem to be scoring well with viewers, however…
