Review: Easy Pill – A Simple Medication Timer for iPhone

Timers are absolutely essential for many smartphone users, but the built in timer functionality in the iPhone is often too simple, especially for people that take medication at regular intervals. Fortunately, Easy Pill offers a well needed solution($1.99, App Store link).

Overview

Easy Pill’s main function is a recurring timer. It’s extremely easy to set up the timer at whatever intervals you want to make sure you take your medications on time. It also has built-in iCloud support which automatically syncs your timers between all of your iOS devices.

Usage

The app uses push notifications to keep you on top of your medication schedule. The timer will turn blue if it is time to take the pill, green if you have taken the pill, and red if you have missed a dose. You can also notify the app each time you’ve taken a medication – just click on the timer and it will turn green.

One of the nicest features of this app is that you can change the timer alert message to whatever suits you best, and can even set up a passcode for the app to keep your medication information private. The ability to sync all your timers between multiple iOS devices through iCloud is also a huge plus.

Verdict

Rating: 4/5[rating:4]

Easy Pill is easy to understand, and includes a how-to guide to get you started. The interface is neat, clean, and very functional, and the timers are very simple to set up. The only downside to the app is that it setting the hours on the timer can be confusing.

Pros

  • Easy to use
  • Push notifications
  • iCloud sync

Cons

  • A bit confusing when choosing hours in the timer view
