Apple Yanks Thunderbolt Update 1.2 Over Widespread Boot Issues

Following Tuesday’s release of Thunderbolt Update 1.2 for all Thunderbolt-enabled Macs, MacNN reports that Apple has now removed the update from their website after it caused kernel panics and serious boot failures for a significant number of users.

The update was only intended to add support for the new Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet adapter, and it’s still unclear exactly why the update is causing these sorts of issues (or even exactly which sorts of Macs are affected). Nevertheless, pulling the update seems like the natural move.

It’s not the first time something like this has happened. You’d think Apple would put a bit more effort into testing their updates…
