Google Shows Developers How to Use Chrome as the Default Browser in iOS

Many users love Google’s Chrome browser for iOS, but unfortunately, those who prefer it still find that clicking a link in another app opens that link only in Safari. Google is hoping to resolve this issue by providing developers with sample code to offer the option to open the link in Chrome if it’s installed on the device.

The Verge notes that this option would be similar to adding an “open in Dropbox” option to a Word or PDF document in an app. It’s hoped that iOS devs will begin adding the necessary code to their apps, so users will have the option of opening a link in Chrome as well as Safari.

While many users will use Chrome no matter what, having the ability to integrate with popular apps like Twitter would be an advantage to quicker adoption of the new browser.
