Steve Jobs’ Stolen iPad Recovered From Childrens’ Street Performer

Following recent reports that Steve Jobs’ home was burglarized last month, a new report from Mercury News (via Macworld UK) tells the tale of how Jobs’ stolen iPad ended up in the hands of a middle-aged street performer called Kenny the Clown.

Kenneth Khan, who was given the iPad by his friend, Kariem McFarlin (the burglar who robbed tje Jobs house), didn’t know the device was stolen. He promptly loaded up the device with some music, and was using it to entertain children in the Bay area.

He had no idea the device came from the fabled Jobs residence until after the friend who gave him the gadget was charged with breaking into the CEO’s Palo Alto home. By then, the cops had already shown up at his door and taken it away.

“It would be like getting a football from Joe Montana that was stolen out of his house,” said the 47-year-old professional clown, whose real name is Kenneth Kahn. “It’s bizarre; it’s really bizarre.”

Khan was arrested a few days after handing off the iPad, and police paid a visit to Khan’s home, where they informed him that the device was stolen, and retrieved it on order to return it to the Jobs family.

What Khan did was desperate and stupid, even if he didn’t know the home had belonged to Steve Jobs. It’s just unfortunate that an innocent children’s entertainer got caught in the mix, losing a “gift” from someone who he thought was his friend.

Sad.
